One of the great signs of spring is the return of the migratory Piping Plovers to beaches in Falmouth. The plover is a small sand-colored shorebird and is nearly always found in open sandy areas along our local ocean beaches. They can typically be seen along the wrack line foraging for food. The forage by sight while running a few steps, pausing briefly, then run a few more steps.
