Willets belong to the shorebird family and are most often found in coastal saltwater habitats, especially salt marshes and nearby tidal beaches.  They are very vocal birds and send out alarm calls when human and other intruders enter their breeding territory.  Willets are large brownish and gray sandpipers with light gray legs and a straight thick bill with a pink base.  This Willet was with a pack of other Willets wading in shallow water near Wood Neck Beach in Falmouth.
