CF2C2623-001The Ospreys are back in Falmouth in full force.  Ospreys arrive in Falmouth from late March to early April.  The nest sites are always located near shallow fresh or saltwater bodies, where the birds will have a ready supply of fish of various species.  Ospreys are superb fishers and eat little else—fish make up some 99 percent of their diet.  In flight, ospreys will orient the fish headfirst to ease wind resistance.  This male Osprey has captured breakfast and is perched near a nest in Great Sippewissett Marsh.
