CF2C1237-001The beautiful Piping Plovers are back for another breeding season on Falmouth beaches.  The plovers have nested with fairly good success on Black Beach the last number of years.  The statewide population of breeding plovers last year was estimated at over 700 pairs.  The early June storm last year destroyed many nests and nesting habitat.  The Piping Plover is small with pale gray upperparts, white underparts, a dark breastband and black forecrown along with a black-tipped, orange bill.  This piping plover was recently seen at Black Beach in West Falmouth.
