The Red-breasted Merganser is a medium sized diving duck with black upperparts, gray sides, a rust brown breast and a crisp white neck. The serrated and thin red-orange bill is very long. This duck also has red eyes and a shaggy crest on its green-black head. They spend the winter in protected bays, ponds, and lakes all over Falmouth.
