CF2C8148-001This Great Egret is one of many types of egrets and herons found in local marshes as they gather together prior to southerly migration for the winter.  It is an amazing time of year in local marshes with terrific birding, brilliant sunshine, and magnificent colors.  A growing number of great and snowy egrets are now in Great Sippewissett Marsh foraging in shallow tidal pools feeding mostly on small fish.  The Great Egret is all white with yellow eyes, a yellow bill and black legs and feet.
