CF2C4734-002The wintering ducks in Falmouth are always a wonder to behold!  The Canvasback duck is a large, elegant, long-billed diving duck.  This male has a rich chestnut head and neck with a bright red eye.  It also has a black breast and canvas-white back and sides.  The Canvasback is a very fast flying duck that is able to reach speeds of over 60 MPH! This Canvasback was recently observed in Perch Pond on Teaticket Path in East Falmouth.
