The Chipping Sparrow is a medium-sized sparrow with a black-streaked brown back, and pale gray underparts. This lovely sparrow sports a brownish-red cap and white throat, along with black and white face stripes. The Chipping Sparrow is a common summer resident found in open habitats. Breeding birds are typically found around suburban residences, golf courses, and open farmlands. The male is known for being an energetic and persistent songbird. This sparrow was seen on a recent visit to Bourne Farm off of Rt. 28A in North Falmouth.
