The Ipswich Sparrow is a pale subspecies of the better known Savannah Sparrow. This sparrow breeds on Sable Island off the coast of Nova Scotia. It overwinters in outer dune beaches with grass cover and sheltered areas along the Massachusetts coast. The Ipswich sparrow has pale grey plumage with grayish-brown upperparts, thin grey-brown breast streaks and whitish underparts.
