The 115th Christmas Bird Count is underway and runs until early January. The longest running citizen science survey in the world, the Christmas Bird Count provides critical data on population trends in the birding world. The Buzzards Bay count involves teams of local birders and the count area reaches from Falmouth to Wareham. While out on Stony Point Dike in Wareham this past Saturday, one team encountered two Snowy Owls. These majestic Snowy Owls are popping up again on barrier beaches all over Cape Cod. They are striking with their mostly white plumage and bright yellow eyes.
