CF2C8277-001The four Piping Plover eggs in the nest at Trunk River Beach successfully hatched on Wed. July 2.  Young plover chicks leave the nest within hours after hatching. They run far and wide over the beach and may settle in another nearby area. Chicks feed themselves but are closely guarded by the ever watchful parents. They forage for marine worms and insects along the beach and wrack line. This chick is four days old and was seen running on the beach just after sunrise on Sunday morning.
