CF2C8646-001Wood Ducks arrive on Cape Cod for the breeding season in late March and early April. As they ready for fall migration, the Wood Ducks typically gather in larger numbers in wooded swamps. At the outset of colder weather, they head south to the Carolinas and Florida for the winter. The male Wood Duck is one of the most striking ducks in North America with its colorful plumage and bright red eyes. This male Wood Duck was seen recently among a group of ducks on Mill Pond off of Rt. 28.
