The Red-tailed Hawk is the best-known and most commonly seen hawk on Cape Cod. They are most frequently seen on tall perch sites as they sit and wait to pounce on nearby prey. The Red-tailed Hawk is brownish overall with a whitish breast and a streaked belly. This red-tailed was recently seen while ready to swoop down on a late afternoon snack near Oyster Pond Lagoon.
