CF2C4558-001The American Oystercatcher is a breeding species along the coast of Falmouth and the Elizabeth Islands. Each year a range of observers count oystercatchers during the peak of the breeding season. During recent surveys, it was estimated that there are over 200 breeding pairs in the state.  Its bright red bill, yellow eyes, and bold pattern make it stand out among the ranks of beach-dwelling birds.  This Oystercatcher was seen last weekend digging for clams just inside Hadley Harbor on Naushon Island.
