The Green Heron is a secretive waterside bird found in inland wetlands and coastal marshes.  They are remarkably patient hunters and will perch or stand motionless awaiting prey.  Green Herons feed mostly on small fish.  They have yellow eyes, a thin black bill, a dark green crown, a chestnut head and neck and a long cream colored streak from throat to belly.  This Green Heron was recently found in a marsh on Washburn Island.
