Wild Turkeys are being seen in larger numbers on Cape Cod. They do not migrate and may move away from their breeding territory during the winter months. Turkeys are wary birds with acute senses. They are very social and stay together in flocks. The wild turkey was heavily promoted by Ben Franklin to be our national bird but lost by one congressional vote to the Bald Eagle! This wild turkey was recently seen near the Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary.
